    T06021IE F288793 '65 396/435 ?'s

Hi, I have a '65 396 long block 3855962 E 5 5 with the 208 heads dated E 24 5. What passenger cars would have used this engine. It is in excellent condition, re built .30 over, std. steel crank, original rods, new pistons, cam, cam berings, freeze plugs, big front timing cover, correct oil pan. No balancer, starter, exhaust, intake, dist.. Would anyone care to opine on it's value? Thanks in advance, g.

None unless the VIN was stamped on the pad, or alternately sometimes on the block above the oil filter, on the vertical surface next to the bellhousing, right in the rough cast iron.

            Re: F288793 = Flint VIN # 288793 ?

It seems the F288793 would be the Vin stamp assembled at Flint. My guess!
Post it on a full size web site, matbe someone will happen to have the car!

That block was also used in the Z16 Chevelle, but the "F" in the VIN stamp pegs it as being out of a full-size passenger car (Impala/Caprice) - that's all Flint Assembly built in those days.
