Does anyone know where I can get carb tags date stamped? They are brass tags used on the Carter WCFB.

Re: Carburetor Identification Tags
Many of the parts houses have the (later and unstamped) anodized aluminum repro tags, nobody I know of makes/sells or repros the early brass tags. You might try Chicago Corvette - their carb shop has an enormous collection of original used/dated tags - however, the attack on your wallet for same will be substantial. John- Top

Re: Carburetor Identification Tags
Andy, I recently wrote an article for SACC regarding date stamping the repro brass tags. If you send me you address off line I'll mail you a copy of it. Basically it requires reverse image stamps. These can be bought at a good machine tool supply house. The tiny tiny line number size is not available in reverse image (so most restamps will come down line "8" ;-). I found the repro brass to be a harder brass than the original tags and the image transfer (struck from the backside) will not come out as clean. IMO my date coded tags look more believeable than the unmarked repro's.- Top

Hum....
My recollection is virtually all of the catalog houses get their tags from the same source (Zip Products), they're brass vs. the anodized aluminum used on '61 and later Carter carbs, and it's up to you to stamp the date line. This causes minor deducts since: (1) material differs from that called for in later Corvette judging guides, (2) stamping the date yourself, even with reverse image die, neglects the 'inspectors punch' seen on real McCoy original tags, and (3) the only source I know of for complete/correct tags is Kuntz and I don't think he sells tags without doing the carb restoration for you.... Those who know more, feel free to chime in here!- Top

Re: Hum....
Kuntz does sell carb. tags without doing a rebuild, that is where I got mine. He purchased an original stamping machine and type dies, so his are very good.- Top
