I am in the process of rebuilding the distributor on my 66. I have searched the archives on relevant info. Picked up the link to the dist. rebuild article. On the topic of lower bushing removal it says to drive it out with a drift. My question is how? With the upper bushing in place, any drift of proper size would not fit through it to drive the btm. bush. out through the bottom. There appears to be a "stop" in the housing that would prevent the btm. bush. from being driven upwards. The 66 service and overhaul manuals are silent on this procedure. Any tips? Thanks - Doug

I generally use a tap to thread the old bushing and appropriate matched bolt to back it out.Bill Clupper #618- Top

no, once it is threaded, I use a tube as a spacer, and run the bolt thru the tube into the bushing. When the bolt head bottoms on the top of the tube, it will draw the bushng out of the housing and up into the tube.Bill Clupper #618- Top
