    I'm seeking information for correct NCRS factory parts for my 1992 ZR1. What are the correct GM part numbers and/or descriptions for the following parts;

    Battery
    Serp. Belt

    Dimitri-----

    I don't think that 1992 Corvettes are judged yet, so, strictly speaking, there is nothing that's "NCRS-correct" for a 1992 Corvette. However, when they are judged, I expect that the following will be the NCRS-correct parts for those items you inquire about:

    battery----Delco Freedom Group 75B. This battery had a black plastic case. The 75B was a VERY UNcommon battery, while the 75A was VERY common. The batteries are identical except for one feature----the 75A has the "Delco-Eye" on the positive side of the battery top and the 75B has it on the negative side. That's because in C4 Corvettes (and, I think, a few other cars) it is not easy to see the positive, top side of the battery. So, the 75B was designed to allow the "Delco-Eye" to be easily discernable. It's pretty much a moot point, now, though. The 75B battery has been out-of-production for many years and is not reproduced. Since batteries, especially sealed batteries like the Delco Freedom, are life-limited items;

    Serpentine belt-----GM #10067477 6 rib 21.4 mm wide X 2037.0 mm long. Has "GM" and the part number printed on it. Still available from GM for a current list price of $46.46;

    Wiper Arms----GM #10135945, lh, and GM #10135946, rh. These are discontinued and replaced by GM #22144265, lh, and GM #22144264, rh. I don't know what the differences are between the original and replacement parts. These are not ZR-1-unique parts. They were used for all 1992 Corvettes;

    Air Filter-----GM #25096933 also known as AC-Delco # A1097C. Remains available from GM or Delco dealers for a current GM list price of $27.22;

    Headlamps-----For ZR-1s there was originally used a capsule assembly (headlamp + "bucket"+ attaching parts) of GM #16514537. This capsule was unique to ZR-1s and was not used for other 1992 Corvettes. I don't know how it differed, though. However, it was discontinued several years ago and replaced by the "all other" capsule, GM #5972850 which remains available. The current GM part number for the sealed beam, alone, is GM #5972698. However, this is just a regular "2 rectangular" sealed beam and is likely manufactured by GE, Sylvania, Wagner, etc. Many 1992 Corvettes had sealed beams that were actually manufactured by Guide and had the word "GUIDE" in the center of the lens. I don't know if all 1992s had these, though.

      Hi Joe, I'm so glad you replied to my message. I enjoy reading all your posts for your wealth of knowledge. I'm looking to acquire these parts over the next few years to get the car up to NCRS standards, whatever they may be in two years. Would you know what the part number for correct wiper blades? My car has never been modified under the hood except an A/C conversion from R12. How much of a deduct do you expect? Thanks again, Dimitri D.

          Dimitri-----

          The original wiper blade assemblies for your car were GM #10135947. This was a 20", black-finished. Trico blade assembly. It was discontinued in November, 1996 and replaced by GM #12363800, a 20" Anco blade assembly, which remains available for a current GM list of $19.35.

          The original insert (included with 10135947 blade assembly) was GM #14069842. This was a 20" Trico insert. It was discontinued in February, 1997 and replaced by GM #12533416. This is also a 20" Trico insert and it's still available for a current GM list price of $11.36.

          None of the above are ZR-1-specific parts and all were also used on standard models. Also, I do not know how the above parts differ.

          As far as the R-134a conversion goes, for a 1992 Corvette very few externally visible pieces have to be changed as part of the conversion. However, I believe that there are a few. Presumably, these would be identifiable by scrutineers. I don't have any idea, though, what sort of points would be involved.
