The valve lash specs for the Duntov 091 cam are Intake .012 and exhaust .018. Are those cold or hot? If hot, can they be set cold and what would be the lash recommendation cold? Lots easier and less chance of burns if done cold.

Re: C1 Duntov 091 Cam
Hot and cold lash settings do not change significantly because cast iron heads and blocks have about the same thermal expanison coefficient as steel pushrods.
I recommend different than OE lash settings to compensate for actual rocker arm ratio - it is NOT 1.5:1!
E-mail me if you wish and I will send you a document that explains how to adjust mechanical lifters including all the whys and wherefores.

Greg------
Keep in mind, too, that the original valve settings at Flint V-8 engine were done with the engine "cold and quiet". So, in addition to the fact that it's easier to adjust the valves this way, if you do it "hot and running", your engine won't be "original", anymore. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

The Corvette Restorer Fall 1995 issue has an excellant article on valve adjustment. I just used it on my 57. If your interested, I can email it to you.- Top
