    C2 underhood heat blistering

I am having a problem with the black underhood paint blistering from heat over my expansion tank.

I used Dupont chasis black. Any suggestions for a high temp solution ?

    Ron,

GM solved that problem several years ago with an underhood blanket. I cannot imagine the overflow tank getting hot enough to bubble the paint. I also cannot understand your use of GM Chassis Black on the underside of the hood. Visit Wal Mart and purchase some Krylon 1613 Semi-Flat Black. I've used it with no problems of bubbles from heat. It is enamel paint and very durable.

    Regards,

Did it show up after having the car in a car show with the hood open?

No, it starting showing up after the hood (and the entire car was painted). I asked the shop what they used, and they said "Dupont black, and that maybe the paint was contaminated". They re painted it. I had te car out yesterday, temp usually around 200 - 210. it started to blister again.

Does anyone know of black high temp paint I could use ?

I already had the car top flighted twice, so I am not concerned about correct paint.

Eastwood's "Underhood Black" lacquer. Buy in 1 qt. cans, thin 1:1.
