C2 glove box light trick?

Hello all,
Can seem to get the light to stay in the glove box switch properly. Any tricks or tips. I know the control wire is supposed to be connected to the switch first however the light still won't stay in. So what is the trick?

The control wire should be slotted and slide into the plastic socket of the bulb holder. Your light bulb should have two nubs on the side just like an interior light bulb. Insert the bulb into the socket and twist to lock the nubs on the bulb into the socket. I know that when I took mine out, that it took a little bit of trial and eror to get it right. Good luck!

Here's your problem. Either the plastic socket has worn in the area where the nubs from the bulb "catch" or more likely, heat has distorted the socket so that the nubs no longer reach to the edge of the socket on both sides. I've been there, and this is one very good reason not to let the glovebox door stay open too long allowing the bulb to heat up the socket excessively.

If you take the socket out and carefully inspect it as you try to seat the bulb, the problem will be evident. I mixed up some epoxy and applied it to the area on the socket with the clearance problem. Then using a small file, I reshaped it to accept the bulb. Worked for me. Good luck!

another issue is that the process of removing the terminal from the socket without damaging the socket leaves the terminal lock tang closed from it's notmal position. Make sure to reform the terminal so the pointed end that catches the lock is out far enough to catch the lip of the lock edge.

Hellow all,

I've always said that this light socket setup was a funky arrangement and in my case even when the light wasn't on I was getting a draw on my battery. After a few weeks of not using the car I was getting a dead battery and I traced it down to the glove box light. After some bending and repositioning of the bolb/terminal I finally found a compromise were it works and isn't putting a draw on the battery.
