Is there are correlation between the serial number on the fuel injection unit and the vin number or build date? The tag on the dog house of my 61 has serial # 3064.

Re: C1 Fuel Injection serial number
Yes, there is a rough correlation, the SN series started at 1001 so yours would be the 2064th unit built, since the 320 unit was used in '60 and '61, it would be at the end of the '61 production run.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: C1 Fuel Injection serial number
Based on my rough calculations, that ser# would work with the assembly date of the engine and build date of the car in late April 61. I am basing that on the total number of cars and the percentage that were fuel injected for both 1960 and 1961.- Top

Re: C1 Fuel Injection serial number
Rob,
My 61 315 HP car which I believe is original has a 7320 unit, serial number 2686. The VIN of the car is #4587 which is a January 10 or 11, 1961 built car. The assembly date on the CS engine is F1213 or Dec. 13, 1960. My research indicated the serial number 2686 was consistent with the other build dates. Hopefully that will give you a reference point.- Top

Re: C1 Fuel Injection serial number
I believe that you guys are right on in the discussion. Calculation of 61 cars is a little more difficult, because of the use of 7320 units in 60 as well. My studies of 62's indicate this: 1/7th (approximately) are fuel cars. Take your VIN e.g. 7777, divide by 7 (1111) and add to 1001. This car shoud have a unit of 2112 by that method---take 50 either side, and a fuel unit of 2062 to 2162 would be most appropriate. On unmodified cars, this has been invariably right on.- Top
