C1 Differential Gear Change

My 62 has a 4.11 posi rear. A bit too much gear for cruzing. I would like to change the rear gear ratio to something in the mid-threes with posi. If I understand things correctly, I will need a new carrier that will handle the new gears, because mine will only support the 4.11 and the 4.56 gears. I would sure like your response to the following:

1. Am I correct that I will need a new carrier?

2. What parts will I need?

3. Where can I get the parts?

1 Yes
2 carrier ( C-30743 ( 3 series)) and ring and pinion
3 ebay etc....... driveline ?

Or...... If you don't care about numbers for cruising you can use the whole centre section from a passenger car up till 1964. I put 3.08s in my 57, they are great on the highway but a little slugish around town.

Thanks Bob. My initial goal is to make it a good driver, then improve upon that as time and money goes by. Is there a good source for interchangable part information?
