I just recieved a set of saddle tan leather seat covers from Al Knoch and the color is different from my origionals? I am looking at the color of the old covers on the bottom of the seat so there should be no fading. The new is a tan and the origional is a darker tan or saddle, the quality looks good. But is this acceptable for ncrs judging or should I send them back? Please help with any advice.

Re: 63 Saddle tan, leather seats/ Color??
I replaced my original 63 saddle tan leather with Al Knock leather. There is some shade difference but in the ball park when compared to originals. Tan is a vague color. I ended up keeping my vinyl trim, rather than use any of the replacements available. Spent a lot of bucks buying pints of lacquer in a pursuit to match the fiberglass dash. Spray paint from CC for 63 saddle tan interior was hardly even related to the color of tan. Have my original leather stashed away for posterity.
Here is a shot of my interior with the original door panels.
A photo would be helpful.

The new color actually looks better but is more than a shade difference from the origional.- Top

Re: 63 Saddle tan, leather seats/ Color??
Bill,
I also have a saddle '63 car and I have noted over the last 10 years or so that almost every saddle car I have encountered had a different shade of color both exterior and interior. The differences in saddle paint from one car to another is very noticable for example.
I purchased a set of saddle door panels last year that were said to come from a '63 coupe that was wrecked in 1968. The panels are in much better shape and not as faded as my cars originals but you can see that the color is one of the same.
I will probably though, somewhere very far down the road, end up buying Al Knoch interior components, at least the leather seat covers and live with it.
Nothing beats original!! Gas covers, exterior mirrors or glass are all distinguishable in my opinion.
