I am restoring an early 58 with right hand hood support. The hood support, which I believe is original, mounts to the top two bolts of the radiator support and to a molded-in area of the underside of the hood. This area also has a molded-in threaded backer plate on which to mount the support.
The problem is that when I close the hood, the support is far enough to the left to hit the generator adjusting bracket. The generator was mounted on the left when I got the car with an incorrect engine but Nolan says 58 generators were mounted on the right. There is no other obvious place to mount the support. I could cut off the generator adjusting bracket and probably make it work but I don't really like that idea either. I would like the car to be judged so I want an original solution. Any ideas, comments or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
