    Was there 2 Fuel Pumps for 66 427/425 ?

I ordered a spare fuel pump this evening for my 66 427/425. The person thought that their records showed an early and late model pump. I could not find any record of two fuel pumps being used. Does anyone know this to be true. Thanks in advance.

    John,

I'm only aware of one part number for the entire 66 run but it is possible that the 65 396 pump carried over to early 66.

There was a great deal of confusion in the early parts books on this because they listed a different pump for 425 HP than was listed for 390 HP but it also was listed for 425 HP passenger car which was totally incorrect.

The 66 pump was used right through to the end of 66 production. 67 started the run with a different part and part number.

        John,

I've searched through several different sources of info on the 6416245 fuel pump for 66 427 and I've found nothing that suggests a change occured during the model year, or any time after.

The oldest info I have shows a 6415962 for 65 with 396, and a 6416245 for 66 with 427, with no record of revision.

The 6416245 carried an AC number, 40366, which was used throughout the same 66 model year with no record of revision, and continued until it was discontinued in the mid 80's.

The 66 assembly manual also shows the AC number 6440366 as being used for the entire year with no record of revision.

6440366 was an assy line only part number which also became the AC short number 40366.
The GM part number, 6416245, would have been different than the AC, or assembly line number, only because the 245 was an assembly that included the gasket.
