I picked up a carb ID tag from Bob Kunz for my 3269S carb, date coded BA2. I can't seem to find a pic of the tag in any of the usual books- on which screw does it mount on the carb? Also, as shown in the pic, he did a diamond-shaped cutout in the right corner, what's the significance of that? My understanding is that there weren't any specific dates on these tags. I haven't found any Restorer articles that were enlightening, at least not on the '61-62 CD. Thanks!

Re: Location for 3269S carb ID tag (62-340)?
Rob--
What do you mean that you didn't find anything enlightening? Seems like I did a lengthy article that included much about the 3269S dating, running changes, etc.in the Restorer. I'm not sure if you're saying you missed that, or it was a poor article. Choose your words carefully. Some of the 3269S tags had dates, some of them did not. I believe that is spelled out on page 53, middle paragraph, of the judging manual.
Bob's reproduction that you have a picture of seems to me to have everything way too pronounced--perhaps it's just the photo.

I am sure that he meant he did not find the article in his search. I just looked for a wheel chart that I know is on the CD but I could not find it. I know it is on there because I printed a copy of it.

Mike-
Sorry, I must have er, ah, missed your article! I will look again. I think that I hit the auto-brightness-contrast button in Photoshop, and the contrast is set very high. It tends to do that on closeups without flash, for whatever reason. I will go back to the CD and edumacate m'self!

Thanks for the reference, and thanks for the article. Great article! Everything you'd ever want to know. After I finish typing this, I'm going down the cellar to play with the 3269 I found at a swap meet a few years ago. I've been meaning to rebuild it.
I think people forget the huge amount of technical information that is in the "Restorer." Especially people who frequent this board and those who've joined NCRS recently and only expect travelogues and "How I found my car" articles.
Thanks again for the article and the inspiration. God, I love the smell of carburetor cleaner in the morning.- Top

In re-reading my response,I don't think that it was as clear to others that I was writing with tongue firmly in cheek regarding not being enlightened. I was just trying to point out that there was an article to refer to. I think it could be helpful.
