    1957 hood release cable assembly

HELP- How does one release the cable assembly from the bracket?

There seems to be some type of ribbed washer attaching the tube to the bracket on the back side. Is this a permanent press type fastener??

I need to remove the bracket so I can have it re-chromed.

Other problem- The steel piece that the knob attaches to is also smoothed out. How do I fix it so the knob will grab on??

If you are talking abount the female latch brackets on the firewall; they were not chromed-they were plated and they were oversprayed with black paint during the underhood blackout process. They cable has a fitting that can be taken off.

      NO-

The bracket I'm refering to is the one that attaches the cable assembly to dash. The bracket that the knob touches when you pull and push the knob to activate the latches. The complete opposite end of the assembly from the hood latches.

      Thanks in advance,
      Mike
