Joe - the 626 vacuum can specs are exactly the same as the specs I have for the 1973577 vacuum can that was used on '76-'77 L-82s and some other GM engines. Does that jibe with your data?

I wonder why there would be two HEI vacuum cans with the same specs.

Yes, I show the 2 vacuum controls as having the same specs. I don't know, for sure, why this would be the case. There must be some difference between the 2. It may not be a vacuum spec difference, though. It might be some other configurational difference---like maybe the arm length, mounting, etc.

The GM #1973577 is discontinued through the GM parts system and I can find no supercession. However, I think that it's still available through Delco under Delco # D-1356. The 1973577 has a much narrower application range than the 1973626. That's probably why it's discontinued through GM.

Since the operational specs for the 2 controls seem to be the same, the fact that the '626' did not supercede the '577' might be further indication that there is some configurational difference between the two.
