    Fuel - Octane boost versus racing versus aviation

    I looking for input regarding fuel for a small block 12 to 1 compression ratio engine (a 1969 Z28 - not a corvette but at least a Chevy). What are the advantages/disadvantes for the following:

    1. 91 octane unleaded pump fuel and adding the appropriate amount of Octane Supreme 130;
    2. 91 octane unleaded pump fuel and adding Union 76 racing fuel;
    3. 91 octane unleaded pump fuel and adding aviation fuel.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks as always

    if the CR is 12:1 the only answer is racing gasoline.

      Been there, done that,

      got the 110 octane gas to prove it.

      Be sure you have the compression you think you do. The short stroke often leaves you with less than you think.

        I use 1 qt. oct.130 on 91oc. works fine, easier then aviation. Don

          I have two comments;

          1) There is another product out there called Lead Accelerator by Torco Racing Fuels. It is a racing fuel concentrate. It is supposed to bring 93 oct pump to 110 octane when mixed properly. I think the mix is 16 oz to 10 gallons of gas.

          2) I have a 66 427/425 running 11:1 comp. I use a 50/50 mix of Torco 110 or CAM2 (both Leaded) with 93 Octane pump gas. Starts great -- no detonation or dieseling etc.

          I dont like to use AVGAS.

            Lived by a small airport. My 70 L-46 11-1 ran the best on A/V fuel(100 actane LL). Use to pull right on the runway to the fuel truck. Seemed to leave some ash on the plugs though.

            Also found the purple 116 at a speed shop in 5 gal or 50 gal drum. Lot of $$$$.
            Real lead 2000 with sunoco ultra workes too.

            Like to try the torco 110. Where is it available?
