Well I took apart an original 3810 throttle plate for refinishing today. I have no trouble with replating and coloring the steel parts but the aluminum throttle plate has got me stymied. How do you bring back that bright aluminum finish?
I tried dunking it in Jasco Metal Etch cut 2 to 1 (Phosphoric acid) and it turned gray black. Is there something else I should dunk it in or should I just use the old brillo pad.
Also in removing the throttle shafts, there was this plastic tape at each of the shaft bearings. Does anyone know where I can find replacement bearing tape for when I reassemble, or is there some other high tech substitute for the tape.
