Re: C3 Stamp Pad "Grind Out"

Do you think that these engines that seem to show up in '70-'71 and others for that matter were ones that were sent back for major repairs? How do the cast vs assembly vs instalation times compare to regular production times?

In my opinion, I think that is when it would have happened. Terry

Re: C3 Stamp Pad "Grind Out"

Many of the C3 VIN grind-outs I have seen appear to be because the VIN was stamped on or over the edge of the pad and not all of the characters registered on the first impression

My 68 BB that started this discussion has a trim tag date of July 18. The engine assy date is July 8. The cast date is late May (can't remember and I don't fit under the car :-)). I saw another 68 with a very close VIN that had the same assy and cast dates.
