The assembly manual does not call for washers under the heads of the 4 bolts that hold the lower bumper braces to the front crossmember. There were washers on the bolts I removed. Has anyone found them on their car, or should I assume they were incorrectly put there by a previous owner?

Funny You Should Ask....
...I just took off a set for my old roommate on his 66 conv. They're off to the chroming shop. YES, they did have the washers on both sides! I can't say if this is correct or not, also most had the "M" or "TR" headmarkings.

My 66 coupe front bumpers have never been off according to the original owner and they do have washers on both sides.

I agree with John. I don't think washers were ever used under the heads of these particular bumper bracket bolts.Comment
