how to handle a dishonest dealership brad i bought my from a dealer hawks corvettes in scottsdale az and got screwed promises were never kept and work agreed upon before purchase was never finished they even lied about things such as telling me it was an accident free car i found out otherwise while replacing the rear suspension after months of his excuses on why the car wasn't finished i took it from him with the help of the scottsdale police he wouldn't give it to me so my goal in life is to make this dealer miserable i need your help and or suggestions on how to make this happen i want to stay within the law don't need a lawsuit against me but want to cost him i've already got graphics on my vehicles back windows stating don't buy from hawks corvettes and have filed complaints with the bbb and deq i had to take the car through emissions myself he never did that i have also considered placing ads in the local trader magazines and picketing his business somebody here must have gone through he same thing and might have some ideas and yes i have filed a suit against him but small claims court won't cover the full amount he owes me if i could cost him even one sale it would mean a greater loss to him than if he just payed me thanks guys

Re: How to handle a dishonest dealership
re how to handle a dishonest dealership jack humphrey i think the ncrs discussion board is an inappropriate forum to express your st amendment rights in what may be a litigious situation i do not see how ncrs as an organization is or should be involved in rd party corvette purchase actions- Top

Re: How to handle a dishonest dealership
re how to handle a dishonest dealership bill baird i'm not sure i totally agree with you i do agree with your point that the ncrs should not get in the midde of a dispute such as this but opinions or experiences shared on this board do not constitute the ncrs taking a stand for either side while i don't want to see this discussion board break down into a bunch of name calling threads i certainly don't mind hearing about a dealer who might be less than honorable i know that there was a dealer here in indianapolis who specialized in corvettes and i was appalled at the condition and price of the cars they were selling no corvette expert would touch any of these cars but i know of a number of first time corvette buyers who were burned by these guys and it left a bad taste in their mouth towards corvettes and the whole corvette hobby information about corvettes and perhaps about unscrupulous dealers is the key to lessening these kinds of problems and the ncrs discussion board is a good platform for this having said all that i don't really have any suggestions about dealing with such a dealer except for squealing like a stuck pig word of mouth can be quite powerful but perhaps of little help in any specific instance- Top

Re: How to handle a dishonest dealership
re how to handle a dishonest dealership jim jordan hello brad being in the corvette restoration repair and sales business i can only say that if i saw my company's name posted the way you have posted this particular dealer i would be embarrased and ashamed unfortunately most dealers who conduct themselves in this manner don't seem to care about there reputation you have voiced your discontent and that is all you can really do this discussion board was not intended for this purpose however and it is in everyones's best interest if things were kept positive your ultimate best defense against things of this nature is educating yourself i am sorry to hear of your dilmemna but i can tell you it does happen and will continue to happen as long as there are people who do not take the time to learn for themselves the difference between quality and junk corvettes jim jordan- Top

Re: How to handle a dishonest dealership
re how to handle a dishonest dealership loren this is hard to respond to mainly because of a lack of information but let's start with the obvious the odds are to that the promises and work are not written out correct also i'm sure it's safe to assume that the accident free representation was also verbal and not in writing you state that you discovered the rear end damage while replacing the rear suspension do we take that to mean that you bought the car knowing that the rear suspension was bad i'm truly sorry that you apparently bought a bad car but since the second year of automobile production used car dealers have been selling cars as is in it might have been self excusable to buy a bad early corvette but in thanks to ncrs and a lot of corvette organizations i don't think that you can call of your friends and not run into someone who doesn't know someone who can help you look at a corvette and determine whether or not it's a good car sorry about hawks but there are good people here in the valley of the sun who can help you put it right don't dig yourself a hole resulting in a defamation lawsuit- Top

Re: How to handle a dishonest dealership
re how to handle a dishonest dealership gary schisler i agree will bill that we don't want this bbs to break down into name calling and flaming but i think that it is an appropriate place to let others know that there are less than honest dealers out there i have bought and sold stuff to ncrs members using the internet with satisfaction i would never send something to someone with out a form of payment in hand but so far with ncrs members i haven't had to worry about that let's keep this bord active and a good place for information exchange and keep emotion and name calling out or as sgt friday said just the facts please gary- Top

Re: How to handle a dishonest dealership
re how to handle a dishonest dealership brad my apologies if this was an inapropraite message my intention was not to start a name calling thread just to vent by letting others who might deal with them know what my experience was i'm not a corvette pro but am not car ignorant and was taken advantage by him if i can keep one person from being treated the same way it would be worth you being angry with me if anything i learned a lesson from this although a costly one again sorry- Top

Re: How to handle a dishonest dealership
re how to handle a dishonest dealership brad i apologize to you also wasn't that i was uneducated i knew what was wrong with the car when i bought nothing wrong with it was a surprise to me the point was that these things were to be repaired as part of the purchase agreement and were never done this was all in writing i must admit though that because of the responses of my initial post i must admit that you are all a st class group of people educated and adult acting probably more so than me other responses on other boards gave advice all the way up to driving through the dealership window and shooting him hopefully i can count on you all to help me with the important things like repairing and enjoying my car thanks- Top

Re: How to handle a dishonest dealership
re how to handle a dishonest dealership j grantham i have been in two situations where i got burned in the first case i took my lumps and did the repairs myself ultimately winding up with a fine car that performed well i didn't tell anyone what actually happened to me for a while because i also consider myself to be pretty savy around cars and spotting problems and it was embarrasing the deal was to good to be true and it was in the second case i decided to get a lawyer and go to court because i was right and did not want to have to pay again no embarrasment this time i was just done wrong because they thought i had no recourse after it was over one year later i came out a little better than even and cost the defendant a lot of money the satisfaction was not worth the time and efort i put in it my advice is to get your car in the shape you want and enjoy it take off your signs and enjoy your car and the rest of your life you have already done enough to get even- Top
