The 'JE' suffix code indicates a 1967 Corvette 427, 435 HP, manual transmission application for the block. That would make it a VERY rare engine component, however, one should be on guard for the possibility of the part having been previously restamped and get an expert opinion regarding factory authenticity....

      Howard-----

A big block with the 3904351 casting number and "JE" suffix code would indicate a 1967 Corvette L-71. I'm sure that the engine production code is T0II3JE. Often times, the character "I" was used in place if the numeral "1". So, in this case, that would mean an engine assembled at Tonawanda ("T") on January, 13 ("0II3"). The year, discerned from the casting date on the block, should be either late 1966 or early 1967.

The "7109335" represents the year model ("7" for 1967) followed by the last 6 digits of the VIN number of the car it was originally installed in (the 9,335th Corvette built for the 1967 model year).

        Howard,
I've used Intercity several times and they are outstanding. In addition they are located in Warren, Mass. which is a stones throw from Springfield.

Would really appreciate it and will certainly be interesting to the group if you could check the casting letter & number on the block by the starter. The raised # & letter (example K6) will indicate the month the block was cast compaired to the assembly date Jan 13. My block was assembled Jan 12 and your Vin # is almost 650 difference.Ok group, could they build 650 engines in one day? Look forward to your answer Howard. Thanks.

                Re: #351 block ??

Both primary Chevrolet engine plants (Flint and Tonawanda) each built 5500+ engines per day, and inventory control between those plants and the engine dress line at St. Louis was essentially nil compared to the systems in use today. No point in trying to make a meaningful comparison or linkage between foundry casting dates vs. car final assembly VIN numbers, except to show how sloppy the inventory systems really were in the 60's.
