    1967 J-50 "3904303"

    Dear Members,

My brake switch block doesn't have any of the corresponding numbers as explained by many of the manuals. I truly believe it to be original to my car, and as though never been apart for any reason. It's certainly way above and beyond Bubba's mental capacity. I'm wondering if it was replaced long ago or if others have similar looking blocks? Thanks!

Another comparison - here's the original on my '67.

        Justin-----

It's definitely an original TYPE distribution block. This style block was only used for 1967 and 1968. It was used on 67-68 Corvettes, 1967 series 10-30 trucks, and some 1967 G-10 trucks.

However, this block looks like it's been painted with "cast blast". They definitely were not originally painted.

          Addendum

I didn't finish my last sentence. It should have read: They definitely were not painted with anything that looked like cast blast paint.

Also, the original has much sharper features and slightly different configuration of the "humps", a very smooth surface texture, and doesn't have any cast-in letters on the top surface.

              67 brake block-Joe L.

              Joe,
Yes, I hit it with some 'cast grey' just to hold it over until reassembly. I'll remove it later, but it looked rusty. I restore the pieces as I pull them off the car, tag and bag. I haven't heard or seen anything about the 'MR' stamp on top. I was thinking Delco 'Moraine' 'Replacement' you know, like 'KH' for Kelsey Hayes brake parts. Just curious, I don't think it was removed previously from initial assembly. Bubba's not that smart, he couldn't even manage to get his cigarette butts in the ashtray, left them under seats! He belongs back in the cage with the rest of his primate family.
