I'm about to paint some new Delco shocks for my 67 "shock absorber gray," but I want to make sure I paint them correctly.
I searched the archives and found some cryptic descriptions of how the paint should appear, so I thought I'd double check before I paint.
On the REAR shocks, I understand that the lower bushing was not installed at the time the shock was painted, so the rubber bushing should be unpainted (black). I plan to leave the upper bushing unpainted as well, even though one post in the archives said the upper bushing could have gray paint on it.
On the FRONT shocks, it sounds like the entire lower end should be painted gray, including the rubber bushing and the plate that bolts to the A-arm. The upper bushings, of course, are unpainted.
So, is the above approach correct? I'd like to get it right the first time.
