The french locks on my exhaust manifolds bend against the ignition shielding during installation. Assuming this is normal, what was the factory's method of dealing with this interference?

...The bolt locks, with one ear bent, only deal with one hex of one exhaust bolt per application. If you are installing them correctly, they should never come close to being in contact with any other part of your car. If so, we need to talk... Best, Dennis -

The contact I'm referring to is the curved portion that connects the two holes in the french lock. They hang down in the way of the shielding.Comment

Found some pictures...looks like the curved part of the french locks is bent outward to clear the ignition shielding. I assume this is what the factory did during assembly. Mine were bent inward.Comment

Rob,
Sounds like you figured it out. Yes, the straps had to be moved/bent to install shielding and there was no particular direction as far as correct goes. Some were pushed in at assembly and others were pulled out so either would be correct.Comment
