Does anyone know of a reputable source for chemically stripping a mid year frame and then "dipping" it in an electro-coat batch, as the OEM industry does with new cars? I would prefer to have the frame dipped in some type of e-coat primer in order to preserve it from the inside out if possible. As always, thanks in advance for your help and advice. Rex, #8089

Re: Frame cleaning
Not sure where you live but international paint stripping at 734 771-3190 in Romulus Michigan near Detroit does this all the time. I have had small parts done there (wheels, front C1 crossmember, control arms) with great success. Ask for mark

Rex, If you can't find a " "dipping" it in an electro-coat batch" "in your area, I would suggest door# 2.
When I had my frame chemically dipped, I then took it directly to a Ziebart dealer and had them inject just their # 1 application into the frame and crossmembers thru various holes and openings. They normally have a 2 step process,# 1 is the rust inhibitor and is a light honey color and creeps into all the cracks and crevices, and #2 is the black sh*t. They told me that the rust inhibitor does the protecting and that they put the black sh^t on because that is what people want to see.
