    66 427, 390 or 425 HP??

I have a 66 that I am sure is a big block car, but not sure which horse. What are the differences? I have already found, 1) three holes in the front left fender well by the horn, for TI module?, 2) ballast rester aftermarket and not screwed in proper place? 3) wiring harness is spliced in different places looks strange? 4) 80 lb oil gauge. I have a 427 insalled, not origional. What cost would I get into for a correct engine, and where do I look? Any help is greatly appreciated.

80lb oil pressure and 6500 tach redline would be good indicators of a 425 hp. Cost? Depends on how much you can scrounge and how much of a hurry you are in.

80# oil pressure found on many known original 390 horses, including mine. There was a recent post where many others state the same.

        depends what you want

Lately the 1966 blocks have been getting more expensive. I've seen complete motors on e-bay for $6000 to $10,000 and I'm willing to bet they're restamps.

        Good luck,
        Mark

What is the build date for your Vette? I have an IP engine--942 block, D216 cast with a T0518IP 6(S?)123414 stamp pad. I have the complete engine w/858 heads/069 intake/carb./TI dist./exhaust/etc.. I found this a few years ago, thought I might find a Vette for it, but I haven't, so I guess I'll sell it. I know it's a long shot that this engine is "right" for your car, but maybe someone else reading this will know the where abouts of the car that this engine belongs to? G.

Engine sounds great but my car was built 12/22/65, long before your engine. Wish we could have struck a deal.
