    1969 Jack Dating

    I am confused as to the dating of jacks and would appreciate advice.

    I have an L71 1969 Roaster vin 194679S717052 which I imported to Australia 14 months ago. At some time during shipping the orgional jack was stolen from the car and I would like to replace it.

    On consulting my 1968-69 NCRS Corvette Technical Information Manual & Judging Guide it states on page 18 that the date code for December 1968 would be 8M. How can that be when on page one the body build date code for December 1968 is shown as 8E???

    The manufacture of my car was February 1969 so is the correct jack date code 9G???

      Bryan, it is understandable why you are confused. The body build date sequence starts the month that production of the car starts, in your case August, 1968. The component dating starts at the beginning of the calendar year. "I" is not used for any component date codes, with the exception being castings.

          Thanks Dick, I clearly have a lot to learn! Any ideas where I can get the correct jack other than ebay or NCRS Driveline ?

              I think that you will have the most luck with the Driveline, ebay, or Hemmings. Unless you go to Carlisle, the Florida Old Town Regional, or maybe Bloomington.
