    1960 cast iron powerglide

If the engine has not been started for a few weeks, the transmission dipstick reads way over full. A minute or so after starting the engine, the fluid level registers normal. Can someone advise me as to the cause of the problem. Also, can the shift and parking shaft lip seals be changed externally?

I have a 1959 cast iron Powerglide. The owners manual says check the oil with the engine idling in neutral. Jimmy

It's not un-comon that it dose that , the pressure valve spring may be weak, and the seal can be removed from the out side.
