That must have been quiet an experience for the tester. Was it basic tests like lights, horn, brakes, what standard did they use? They can't have seen very many 1960 Corvettes pass through the testing station.

            Kevin,

all basic things brakes, lights, horn, wiper, and all mechanic parts kingpin, bearings, and vin check and all paperworks. they use the standards of the production year

they get a lot old cars, import cars for examination not a lot corvette's i think but Rob's car was there last year for the same.

we need to let the car tested at a local authorized Rdw dealer every year on
            in the netherlands

i dont know how this goes in the US ?

Differs by state, here in California there is no inspection of any cars, except smog for cars newer that 1973. The rust prone states inspect them yearly I think.

So there are a lot of dangerous cars driving in California I think ?
you will probably kept responsible for it if you cause an accident ?

Most of the dangerous cars out here are driven by unlicensed and uninsured motorist, that's why we're a "no fault" state. And lately the President is pushing to give the illegals licenses to too, it's nuts.

MI - No Inspections, NY - Yes

NY checks for emissions and safety. MI (Michigan) cancelled all emissions testing in the 90s.

That's not the main reason we moved. However it's been nice here, not having to deal with it each year.

Re: MI - No Inspections, NY - Yes

In New Jersey, if the car is registered as a "Historic Vehicle" with special "QQ" license plates, there is no inspection required at all.

                          road tax

in the netherlands we dont have to pay road tax on 25 year and older cars
thats the only luck we have on old cars
for younger cars we pay a due based on the weight of the car

new cars dont need to be tested for the first 3 years after that it must be tested each year .
