    '66 #3367 CARB LEAKING

I removed the service replacement #3367 and put on the rebuilt original. The front bowl is leaking above the fuel line inlet opening, at the circular area that is perpindicular to the inlet opening, out on the end, where it looks like metal is pressed in to close up the opening. I noticed the replacement carb has what looks like a plastic seal in this area. Was there one at some time on the original, or is there a way to seal it at this time?

    ADDENDUM

Can the carb be leaking at the location I described, or must it be actually coming from another area?

      Re: ADDENDUM

Rob had this same problem with a fuel bowl leaking at this plugged location. I replaced the fuel bowl. After the replacement I read somewhere that J-B Weld could be used to seal off the area. I have not tried the J-B Weld, but I would to reuse the the fuel bowl.

I had the same issue once on an original 3810, and cured it by carefully "peening" the periphery of the bowl around the plug with a flat brass drift and tapping the drift with a small hammer; dried it right up.

if johns idea does not work

just use some clear 2 part epoxy as it is very hard to see once hardened

Talked to some carb rebuilders today. Turns out not to be an uncommon problem, and the fixes recommended are what they suggested too. Thanks...
