    3858180 block

    Hi All,

I have a quick question here on the "180" blocks for 65. It states in the judging guide (pg82) that if the block has a 2 digit year date code, that it is NOT a corvette engine. But in Nolands book, they look like they clearly have a 2 digit date code.. Am I missing something here or just reading wrong..

    Thanks,

    /joe

    Re: 3858180 block

I believe the two digit code reference is to the "870" block as it is recognized that the "180" blocks were cast in Tonawanda and then machined/assembled in Flint for Corvette applications. The 870 blocks were cast in both Saginaw and Tonawanda, but only Saginaw 870 blocks were used for Corvettes. Sagainw used the single digit year code, and Tonawanda the two digit year code.
