Re: '62 tire jack
John--
I don't know of anyone who rebuilds original jacks. For my money, I wouldn't touch your original--and I'd buy a repro for any show or use except bowtie judging. The only difference (detectable) between the original and a repro is the rivets, and to redo an original would likely demand redoing the rivets and thereby making your original appear as a repro.

Re: '62 tire jack
Mike, so you are saying the attached jack (Paragon) is identical to the original except for rivets? Do you have a picture of the correct rivets. I have given up on an original jack and now that I find they are identical will probably get the repro. Just wondering what the rivet difference is.
Thanks, Chris

Re: '62 tire jack
Chris,
I was at Werner Meier's place last week and the crew was chuckling over the jack description from Corvette Central for a 62 that it was "for show purposes only". I see that Paragon lists the same warning from your link. It makes you wonder if you really had to use the jack, would it really hold the car up and for how long.

Re: My experience is the jacks...
Dennis,
I am NOT an attorney but work in the court system and with attorney all the time. But, it does make one wonder why ALL reproduction parts are not labeled with a disclaimer, such as brake components, suspension, etc.

Re: '62 tire jack
If I had a digital camera, I would post a pic of my orig '62 jack so you could see the rivets....My jack is pretty well bent and bowed from years of use. It is unusable now! I guess I will just bend it back into shape and clean it up. Should be a good feature when selling the car. Never realized the value of all this stuff; I'm sure glad I kept a box of all my "Vette broken junk" over the years. BTW, thanks to you all for your recommendation, I had my orig regulator rebuilt by Pirkle.....It is going to look awfully shiny with all those other dirty parts in that engine compartment. MANY THANKS, JOHN- Top
