1967 Wheel Trim Rings mounted to the wheel rim two different ways according to Noland Adams in his Restoration Guide. The first design was a 4 clip design which is very easy to indentify. The second style was a friction clip design. How can this design be identified as authentic?

The original '67 trim rings had the four separate clips that gripped the edge of the rim flange; the other retention scheme with friction fingers all the way around are found on service replacements and reproductions. -

Doug - For what it's worth, two of my original beauty trim rings were stolen in Sept. '67.
The over-the-counter GM replacements at that time had the grippers the entire circumference of the trim ring, and not the four 'clips' style (which was standard with the car.)

Clips on originals are unique in width and in the center space of the clip.
