Is there any difference between the valve covers for a 402 block vs a 427 block? I know the 402 has the large oil breather cap. Other than that can you interchange?

To the best of my knowledge they are the same, the only differences you may encounter are the position of wire loom hangers ,

As an after thought there may also be differences in the indentations made to accomidate accessories in the tight quarters of the Corvette engine compartment that were not a problem in the larger bodied cars, i.e. Chevelle, Monte Carlo etc.

I'm not certain that I'm correctly understanding your question. There are no Chevrolet Mark IV big blocks which use "...a large oil breather on the valve cover. The 402 big block, produced during the early 70s but never used in Corvettes, had the same basic valve cover configuration as all 1965 through 1991 Mark IV engines and all Mark IV valve covers will physically fit all Mark IV cylinder heads. However, there are about 90 different Mark IV valve cover configurations which have differences to fit specific year and model applications.
