Re: 58 posi
It fits the 0-6 month rule silhouette on major dated components and probably isn't that far out of line with the 'norm' (around 6-8 weeks). Remember, the factory didn't have FIFO/LIFO inventory controls and components were pulled pretty much at random from on-hand stores. It wasn't unusual for earlier components to 'drift' to the bottom of the barrel/back of the shelf as newly received inventory was 'stacked ahead' and those at the bottom/in the back getting pulled at a later date when inventory was just about exhausted...- Top

Michael, The information stamped...
...on the "other" side is an assembly stamping. Numeric characters designate the month and day only. No year. The alfa characters indicate the useage application and ratio. AX is not a Corvette application. I would guess a passenger car application. The alfa characters do not indicate horsepower in any case. They indicate Corvette use (or other), positraction or standard, gear ratio, manual or powerglide transmission and if it happened to be fitted w/HD brakes and suspension.- Top
