    62 Generator end cover?

    Hi Guys,

Whilst checking out my buddies 62 today I noticed that the rear end of the generator is open and the brushes and end of the comutator can be seen.

My 59 had the dizzy drive so this area could not be readily seen.

It seems a bit strange to have this open as water and other contaminents could easily enter into the end of the genny.

Should there be some sort of cover or screen???

    Any help appreciated as always.

    Thanks, Mark.

There should be a metal plate--cad or zinc plated, that taps in there and fills the hole completely. John Pirkle would have one.

The plate Mike mentions covers only the bearing, the brushes/commutator are open the the world for ventilation. Splash is pretty minimal in that location.
