C2:67 Leaded Gas and Lead Substitute?

I've often wondered just what leaded gas does for a 327/300 HP engine. Does lead substitute do the same thing?

What's the consequences of not putting in lead or lead substitute in my 67.

I usually run 91 unleaded in my car and then every once in a while, I do a tank full with lead substitute. Am I wasting my money on the lead substitute.

Given the normal use patterns of a '67 300hp in today's environment, probably a wast of time (and money) for the lead substitute.

I agree with Bill. I feel all of the hype about lead sub's is mostly to boost sales of product. Unless you intend to put 50,000 or 100,000 miles on your car with the original valves/seats, it a waste of money and can also be very dangerous. Improperly installed seats can and do come out and the results are not pretty. Also, the claims of higher octane are, for the most part, slightly less than legit.
