    c2 carb ID

I have a 66 with L79 and the 4160 carb #3367. The number stamped where the date code is 2821.
The stamp on the air horn appears like the following.
    3884505
    List 3367
    2821
The JG says the date code should read year, month, week of the month produced.
The carb seems to be the right part, what is the date it was produced?
    Thanks,
    Frank

    1971 ?

It's my understanding that four digits means the first three are the day of the year (day 282 is in Oct.) - Then the last number is the year. I also think the part number should have letters, like DA as a suffix, if OEM.

    But then, I'm not sure.

        Clem,

I think they used the three digit code to 1972, so the carb would be 81 or 91 if they were still producing a replacemnt for that list number. The way they date coded these Holleys, I think they only expected them to last 10 years.

my list shows the 4 digit code started in 1970 with replacement carbs.

Not sure your list is correct, Clem

A fall 1989 Restorer Article by Gary Hodges says that the 3 digit code was used on OEM and replacements through 1972. Chevrolet by the Numbers says that the 4 digit code began in 1973. I read someplace else that after production year 1972, Holley was no longer an OEM supplier to GM, and that they then switched to the 4 digit code.

Maybe Gary Hodges or others can chime in on this, I'm just going by what I've read.

            Respectfully,
