Great picture (especially since it is in color!!!) Give you a good impression on how it must have looked in real life. I find it such a shame I didn't live in those times. I would have loved to visit these races!!!

Love those old shots!! Years ago I found a home movie taken of Sebring 62 with some shots of my 62 Gulf Car, along with Rich Mason's and Irwin Krois' coming at us and going past. Had that translated to videotape because those are otherwise irretrievable memories.

Here's a link to my '57 Sebring album - I shot all the photos with an old Argus C-3; remember those? I was the 16-year-old crew chief for the #58 manx-tailed mid-engine Cooper-Climax, which was the first one in the U.S. at the time. Great memories

That's the second-generation version of the $3.2 million B-J car; it was Harley's car, built at Styling in 1956 - I think it was called the "Delta 88" or something similar. The car had a crowd around it in the paddock all weekend. 90% of the GM people at Sebring in '57 were Styling guys, not engineers; they booked half of the old Sebring hotel just for Styling, and the engineers had to fend for themselves. We stayed in a rented room in a nice old lady's home in Sebring, and a couple of Chevy engineers shared the room next to us.

Thanks John. When I first saw your photo I thought it was the Olds powered fiberglass bodied roadster built by Styling for Harley Earl just prior to his retirement. I have since found the article in my old July 1959 Hot Rod and see the differences. Earl had a home nearby in Palm Beach and I remember seeing the car I mentioned a local repair shop in the 1960's.
