Will an early distributor with a partial oil groove provide sufficient oil to a 69 cast 512 block. The CE block in my 67 435 coupe was running with the early partial groove distributor but I don't know if I should put that distributor back in. I don't know when they changed to the full circular groove. Thanks.

I believe that they will work satisfactorily. As a matter of fact, the TI ball bearing type, tach drive distributors which were available until about 1991(for about $1,700 GM list)had the partial oil groove. As far as I know, these over-the-counter-only distributors were specified for use on all big block engines, not just the early ones.In Appreciation of John Hinckley
