Each of the four clamps have 2 "grippers that slip over the wheel bead. Carefully insert a wide flat blade screwdriver between the tire and the edge of one of the grippers. Pry firmly to lift the gripper away from the wheel. Repeat with the second gripper until the clamp is free. Repeat the process with the other three clamps. NEVER PRY DIRECTLY ON THE TRIM RING SURFACE.

To install the trim ring, I find it works best to have the wheel off the car and laying flat. Place the trim ring so the 4 clamps are contacting the wheel bead. Select one clamp and position it directly over the wheel bead. Using the "heel" of your hand, firmly rap downward on the trim ring with enough force to snap the 2 grippers over the wheel bead. Repeat with the three remainig clamps. By the time you do four wheels, you will have a sore hand but your trim rings will not be damaged!!

If some one else has a better technique, I would like to hear about it.

By the way, this assumes you have the original style trim ring and not the replacement style that has grippers all the way around. I have no experience with this design.
