      Re: Besides...

They put a LOT of money, time and craftsmanship into that car, and it shows; that said, you'd think they could have measured the wheelbase vs. the body more accurately and put the front wheels 3" further forward in the wheel openings where they belong (and I'd have blacked out the fake ducts behind the front bumpers and used the right pop-rivets for the VIN plate). Yeah, I know - picky, picky, picky.

        Re: Besides...

Jack you are correct. I have tried not to use any good original parts on my car when there was a repro part available! I have traded many friends straight across for the original parts, just to avoid using them on my car.

          John,

--------Great minds think alike (I hope). I went thru this entire thread thinking about the wheelbase on this very nice appearing hot rod. That much effort and hard labor done and the car really looks goofy when you finally see that the front wheels appear to be about 5 inchs too far to the rear of the wheel-well opening. They forget thier tape-measure that day?.........Bill S

            Re: Besides...

The VIN tag struck me as odd and I may be wrong, but on 62's isn't the VIN tag "secured" to the steering column? And if it was on the door jamb (as it looks in the photos) shouldn't it be attached with screws? (I had to do some research on the internet to verify the location).
BTW, my 59 is a "hybrid" project. The stripped body was cut just forward of the firewall, frame too with a 2nd Gen Camaro subframe welded to the bottom! I did get the pass door, windshield frame, between the seats trim/door and pitted taillight housings. The body will be 99% original looking, the above frame has C4 susp/drivtrain. And I never could find out any history or how it was delivered from the factory except silver ext, red int and convertible top.

              Re: with a resto-rod

I wish they would have shot some pictures of the chassis from the underside of that car. I would have liked to have seen how much they had to cut to fit the C5 rear under the C1 body. It does look like about half of the truck space is gone.
