    decode help on 71 LT-1

Getting my 1971 LT-1 flight judged for the first time at the end of this month, and I'm doing the best I can with my limited knowledge(facts and spec books-lol)to ensure a good score. However, I'm wondering if the front parking lamps are correct....my build date is K15, but my front lenses are clear, dated 70. I thought that late 71's were amber. My rear lights are all dated 71. The vin number is stamped on the engine block, and it also is stamped with the correct vo 602 CGZ for the LT1, but the only letter(date code?) I could find on the block is D(april?) Could this be correct? Or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? Your help is appreciated in advance!

Ken, Congradulations on having your LT-1 judged. Hopefully it will be a good experiance for you.
The build date is June 15th,"71
The engine assembly is June 2nd, 71 '
all 71's have clear parking lenses dated 70
The only other thing you need to find is the casting date on the block. It is found at the rear passenger side top where the bell housing attaches
It should pre=date the engine assembly date by afew weeks to a couple of months.
All your numbers apear to be perfect.
    Good luck!

Read the thread from last week's posts about what the dating on lenses means.

          Ken,

I am thinking the same thing you are on the front lens. My JG states that early 71 - like mine - had the clear lens with amber bulbs, and the late cars had amber lens with clear bulbs.

All 71s had clear lenses with amber bulbs. This is stated correctly in the 3rd Ed of the JG; you likely have an earlier edition.
