Yes, I am aware that it was a distributor exchange for K66.

I agree that the case for the stamped steel part looks strong. The '68-'69 TIM does not mention the distributor hold down. I can't recall the exact line item on current judging sheets - if the line item is for the distributor only, or if it mentions the clamp.

The current sheets mention the distributor only. Good point on the clamps. This is one of the items that needs to be researched for the next revision of the manual

For 1969 I think we can say with virtual certainty that the stamped steel distributor clamp was used across-the-board.

1968 is the year of uncertainty. From the little bit of information we have with this impromptu survey, it looks like early engines got the "wire" type and later got the stamped steel. Just when the changeover occurred for big blocks and small blocks would need to be further researched.

My Original owner 68 L79 has a stamped steel hold down. Build date July 17, 1968.
