    C2 Aluminum Intake finish

I have just refinished my aluminum intake with Aluma-Blast and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of anything to spray over the paint to make it easier to clean/maintain the finish over time.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Mike -

Anything you put over it (like a clear of some sort) will yellow from the heat, and the Aluma-Blast paint will likely burn off anyway at the exhaust crossover passage locations.

      C2 Aluminum Intake alternative

Mike, John is right. You don't want to use Aluma-Blast on an intake. I'm not sure how much heat it is rated for but it is not considered an "engine" paint. I know Eastwood and some Corvette vendors offer some clear coat finishes that are rated for higher temps. You could use something like this over the natural aluminum finish. It's still not a good way to go as it doesn't look natural. I am assuming you painted your manifold because it was stained and you didn't like the way it looked. Here's a better solution though it is more expensive. Reskinning! It will duplicate the original appearance and be easy to clean. Here's a couple of reputable sources who provide this service.

He is also restoring smog equipment.

I had it done to mine (MacNeish) after a weld repair and it came out looking brand new.
