I have just finished reading Mike McCagh's article in the winter 2000 Restorer.Joe Lucia gave me some good advise on which wires he would use on a driver so it looks like I'll buy one set for show (Lectric Limited) and one set to GO.My question is; would the Packard Delco 440 steel core wires be the best for performance or would another aftermarket set perform better? The car is a 67 Coupe 427/435 with 4:11 rear, T.I., and no radio. Thanks.

Re: Spark plug wires
Rick----
Personally, I'd use the Packard 440 steel core wires. These should provide adequate performance and, essentially, original configuration, if not "dates". I'm sure that other aftermarket wires might provide significantly higher performance potential, but at the cost of a significant deviation from original configuration. For strictly street operation, I don't think that you'd gain much by going this way and, besides everything else, they'd undoubtedly cost more.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Spark plug wires
Thanks for the help guys. My 66 427/390 car is currently using Letric Limited shielded wires. This car has a radio. After reading Mike's article it would appear I am not getting the required energy to the plugs. Is there another performance wire set, perhaps shielded, that I can switch to which will allow me to use the radio?- Top

Re: Spark plug wires
Hi All:
Lectric Limited, (Founded by the owner of Chicago Corvette, who is no longer involved BTW), will entertain special orders. It may be possible to have them make a set of 440 wires with the correct sheilding, while a close inspection would reveal the date discrepancy, they would look correct to most.

Re: Spark plug wires
re spark plug wires rick snow duke no t i on this car i installed pertronics last year with flamethrower coil no real problems it's just that mike's whose opinion i value article made it seem like my lectric limited wires would limit performance and as this car gets a lot of driving i would change wires to maximize performance any suggestions- Top
