Can anyone tell me how to remove the chrome T handle from the parking brake handle on my 60? The shaft of my handle is starting to corrode and I would like to polish and replate the shaft but cannot figure how to remove the pin that holds the T handle to the shaft. The pin appears to be simply a driven in pin but does not have access from the top side to drive it out.Was this not intended to be removed or was this originally a setscrew and has been bastardized by a previous owner?

Re: 1960 parking brake
I can't help with the removal procedure, but I can tell you my '58 is attached the same way. It looks like a blind hole with a pin driven in flush. How good are you at drilling very small holes? You MAY be able to do so on a Bridgeport, I don't think I would try it on a drill press.- Top

Re: 1960 parking brake
I drilled out a roll pin on the steering head lock of my '58 Harley last year. I only had access from the one side and there was not clearance to get a drill into it. I bought one of those flexible drive shafts for my Dremel tool and used a small diamond or tungstun impregnated bit or tip that ground the pin away. The flex-drive has a small head allowing you to get access and the tip that I used did not grab and stick or break off like most small drill bits do. May be worth a try.- Top
