    "WARNING"

I just got an email from some guy saying that he had read one of my posts. I was helping someone with their 58. He asked me to take some pictures. I emailed him back to ask, what specifically he wanted me to take pictures of. I'll help any of my NCRS brothers & sisters. After I hit the send button on my my email. A message popped up. I got a message that said, after I provided my personal information, it had spaces for my name & so on. I deleted it right away. It was very disturbing. It was sent under the guise of him having a special spam filter. I would only have to fill out this form once. I'm not giving out any info to anyone. So just be careful folks. It seems these jokers are every where.

    Re: "WARNING"

Good decision Debra. The scams get more incredible by the day. I especially liked the one I got reciently from, supposedly, ebay, asking for my bank acct # and password, just for their records. If these people worked as hard at a real job as they do developing new scams, they'd have lots of money.

Re: "WARNING" contact John Waggoner ?

A link to his email is at the bottom of this page.

If this person contacted you through this board's email links, maybe John can take a look and see who it really is. I'm sure the history of all this board's members and the "behind the scenes" activity is some how captured in a file.

We don't need creeps infiltrating this board...

They are pulling the " Problem with your account " thing on PayPal also. Does the NCRS site have a fraud policy and followup on any reports ?

Re: "WARNING" contact John Waggoner ?

Some of the spam filter requests are legitimate. I had one recently after asking an eBayer for his payment address. I believe it was an 'Earthlink' account. Basically it sent an automatically generated response asking for name and subject matter. He then answered rather quickly. I suspect this is to weed out the mass spam mailings which will never respond to such a request. There was not a request for any other personal information.

          It's a jungle out there.

            Debra,
I'm sorry for the confusion, my email is designed to keep junk e-mails coming to me. until i accept an email manually, they get trapped in my spam mail. i guess we are all concerned about the same problems. i guess i'm the kreep who caused you the alarm. i assure you it was a function of my mail server and only tried to identify you sending a message to me. Anyway no need to further investigate or have any group members slam my moral fiber, sorry for the confusion. Chris Trombetta

Sorry for the confusion Chris, the minute it asked my name I erased it. I never seen A response like that before & I am not computer savvy enough to know better. I thought it was better to be safe than sorry. I hope this doesen't cause you any problems. I just sent you about 40 pictures of the engine compartment, it took a few minutes. I had to remove the ignition shielding. I put the car outside in the daylight to get you the best possible results. I hope I got pictures of everything you needed. If you need any more shots just let me know.
              Cheers,
              Deb

                Privacy Policy

Yes the NCRS does have a privacy policy. The policy is spelled out from the Privacy link on the opening page of the Store. It also in a file that your browser can read behind the scenes that tells the browser the site can be trusted.

We take care that your email address that is used on this board is not visible to any user of the board, but they can contact you by email from the server. You respond or not at your pleasure. The Tech Board is protected from email address harvesters that cruise the internet gathering email addresses anywhere they can find them. I try hard to keep ahead of the harvesters.

We also have the ability to block abbusive users from access to this board if necessary.

If you see any abuse, or suspect any breaches of secuity please contact me at admin@ncrs.org
