hello al is it possible to change the ratio of a 4:11 posi to a 3:73 or 3:55
ratio or what do i need more than only a ring and pinion ????

Hey Roy - Assuming his 4:11 is on a series 4 carrier, can Sander plug in a 3:55 set without going to a series 3 carrier? Or is that where the spacer comes in? I plead the fifth...Dick

Gee, I used to know this stuff... Dick, I want to

say, you need the spacer going the other way since you are switching to a smaller pinion and need to move the ring gear over toward the pinion. Be nice to get this one right as posting member is a long way from Pep Boys...

that's where the spacer comes in and my brain goes out on the series
It's the ring gear thickness

You can make the change and keep your carrier but you will need a 3 series posi unit along with the ring and pinion. I just made this change on a 62. Rich #2276

The one in the photo (C-30743) is a Series 3, for 3.08 to 3.73 gears; the one for 4.11 gears and up is C-30751.
