    C 1 Hood Release

Can some one help me figure out if I have the short handle on my hood release. I don't see any springs, so it does not snap back in. I need to push it in. According to the manual the springs came on later & into 59.
    Thanks,
    Deb

The female hood latches have the spring. With the hood up ,pull the handle out and quickly let it go and see if it goes back in.

Deb, I too believe each hood latch should have a spring. However, 1958 Corvettes that have the passenger side hood release routed over the bellhousing on the engine side of the firewall, even if WELL lubricated and in perfect condition, will probably not be able to fully and easily return the release handle to the home position regardless of what the design goal may have been. When we were writing the 53/62 Operations Manual and Performance Verification Judging Guide, this (1958) issue came up and I recall was addressed in that manual. Suggest you review that offering. Best, Dennis
